Cops rescue two dancersafter they fall into Sone river

Ara: Turning Good Samaritans, some policemen and locals on Saturday morning rescued two woman orchestra dancers who fell into the Sone river when their bike rider lost balance on the bridge and collided with the bridge’s railings.The incident occurred at about 7am on Saturday on the Sahar-Arwal road-cum-bridge under Sahar police station of Bhojpur district, when Sundari Kumari and Prem Sheela Kumari, both about 19-year-old orchestra dancers, were returning to their company situated at Garhani in Bhojpur after performing at a ‘tilak’ ceremony in Jivan Bigha under Paliganj block of the Patna district, police said.According to the police, the bike rider Santu Kumar, a resident of Jivan Bigha, Patna, reportedly dozed off, resulting in the collision of his bike against the bridge’s railings. While the two dancers, riding pillion, fell into the Sone river, the bike rider got entangled in the bridge’s railings and sustained some injuries.The Sahar SHO, Subodh Kumar, told TOI, “Some police personnel, during their regular patrolling, were alarmed by the cries for help from the dancers and promptly responded by jumping into the river and rescued both the girls. Thankfully, the water was not too deep, so the rescue became a bit easier for the cops.”According to sources, the villagers also chipped in and lent their helping hand in rescuing the girls.All the three injured persons, including the bike rider, have been admitted to the Sahar PHC, where they are undergoing treatment, said police, adding the three were wearing helmets. “However, after an inquiry case will be lodged under relevant section of law for triple on the bike,” he said.
